Irene J. Damiano, 98, peacefully passed away on November 29, 2023. Born June 8, 1925, her parents were Samuel and Frances Mantell.
During her lifetime, Irene held positions as a research librarian at Carborundum Company, a Vice President and bank manager at Ameri-First Bank, an assistant to a financial advisor for twelve years, and finally took over the billing for her condo complex when, at age 88, Irene was strongly encouraged to retire by her daughter.
Irene was a bright, accomplished woman in the days when women did all the work and men took the credit. She was a woman ahead of her time before careers became fashionable. In spite of all that, she was a wonderful mother who had dinner on the table every night, and on Sundays made a freshly baked pie or cake.
Not only was she a beautiful woman, but Irene's strongest quality was her kindness.
Special thanks to Irene’s caregivers, Claudia Chin and Vinette Francis, who lovingly and compassionately cared for her every day.
FAMILY MEMBERS
Irene was predeceased by her husband, William Damiano, her two brothers, Dominic and Frank Mantell, and her sister Marie Malone. She is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia Laroche (Ronald), and Doreen Figler (Michael), two grandchildren, Meredith Figler and Todd Figler (Katherine Figler), and three great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Wyatt and William.
