ALICE SHAGHOIAN

Alice Shaghoian passed away in her home, in Clawson, MI, on November 11, 2016. Born in Highland Park on December 19, 1923, she was the daughter of Osgean and Vartanoush (Baylerian) Gurunian. Growing up in that warm Armenian community, she experienced the close-knit bond with relatives and friends during family visits to each-others' homes. She dutifully helped her father in the family's grocery store while receiving her education in Highland Park High School. In 1947, at a relative's cottage on the shores of Lake Huron in Lexington, Michigan, she met Harry Shaghoian. They fell in love and, on their second date, Harry proposed marriage to her. They were married in 1948, and Alice became a devoted wife and mother. In 1977, Alice returned to working for J.L.Hudson Department Store. She was a loyal sales associate there for many years until her retirement at age 80. A family oriented woman, Alice took care of her family. She looked forward to her shopping trips with her sister, Dorothy. Very importantly, Alice was a caregiver to her parents in their senior years. In her leisure time, Alice enjoyed gardening, sewing, and especially baking and cooking for the regular family Sunday dinners. .........................ALICE SHAGHOIAN Age 92; November 11, 2016. Also many Nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In State Tuesday 5pm to 8pm with Dan Gark prayers at 6:30pm in St John Armenian Church, 22001 Northwestern Hwy, Southfield. The family will also receive friends in church on Wednesday from 9:30am until time of funeral services at 10:30am. Interment White Chapel. Memorial donations to either St. John Armenian Church or Alzheimer's Association of Michigan.
