ARAXIE SHIKLANIAN

Araxie Shiklanian was born May 5th 1924 in Arapunar, Syria to Hagop and Mariam Hazarvartian. Married to Hagop Shiklanian in 1941 at the age of 15, she, Hagop, and their children moved from Syria to Lebanon, were they lived from 1957 until she and her husband moved to the United States in 1983. In 2006, Araxie lost her life partner and love, Hagop Shiklanian. Her health began to deteriorate soon after his passing at which time she suffered from an aneurysm, incapacitating her for the remainder of her life. Although she was very well tended to and cared for, first by a live-in caretaker for 8 years, and later by her daughter, Silva, with whom she lived for 2 years. Araxie crossed over on May 18th at 9:30 in the morning. Araxie leaves behind a legacy for being known for her kind heart, gentle smile, and warm personality. She is loved and respected by young and old alike. Araxie is survived by her 4 children, Harout, Berj, Seta, and Silva, 11 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren......VISITATION May 21, 2017 Sunday from 5pm to 8pm with Dan Gark prayers at 7pm in St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church, 19300 Ford Rd; Dearborn, MI 48128.....FUNERAL INFORMATION The family will also receive friends in the church on Monday, from 10am until time of funeral service at 11am. Interment in Glen Eden Cemetery, Livonia, MI......The family suggests memorial donations be made to ARS Zabel Chapter.....Flowers may be sent directly to the church on Sunday by 1:00pm.
