SADIE SARAJIAN

Sadie Sarajian, age 94, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2016, Born in Portland, Maine, to Yervant and Khasvart Rose (Hatzakordzian) Manoogian, they were survivors of the Armenian Genocide. She was 8 years old when the family moved to Detroit, where Sadie grew up in the Armenian community of Delray. She received her education in the area's iconic Cary School. She worked as a clerk in Downtown Detroit at the famous landmark J. L. Hudson Department Store. Sadie was a faithful, hard working and loyal employee for many years. Sadie married widower George Sarajian in 1965 and became an instant stepmother to his children. The family enjoyed trips to Belle Isle, traveling on buses and streetcars. Many picnics took place at Elizabeth Park and Arsen's farm in Monroe, Michigan. A family person, who adored her sisters, Sadie enjoyed family dinners and happy gatherings with them. She was an expert embroiderer and was noted for her numerous pillow cases and fine table cloths, which she shared with her family. Being a very faithful woman, Sadie was a member of St. John Women's Guild, where she volunteered her services in the kitchen, baking for the Annual Bazaars and could be seen happily waiting on people in the crowds at those events. Sadie leaves many warm memories of her long life. ..................SADIE SARAJIAN Beloved wife of the late George. In State Thursday from 9:30am until time of funeral service at 11am in St. John Armenian Church, Southfield. Interment Woodmere. Memorials to St. John Armenian Church.
